Before you embark upon any dive course we have to ascertain that you are fit and healthy to dive.  Certain medical conditions and medications are contra-indicated.  Click here to view a medical questionnaire and if you answer "yes" to any of the questions, you must seek the written approval of your physician before you can dive.

Gratuities

Our instructors work very hard to give you the safest and most enjoyable experience out on the water.  If you think they did a good job and would like to show your appreciation by leaving a gratuity, it is customary to tip 10-15% for dive services here in the BVI.

PADI DISCOVER SCUBA DIVINGA great introduction to Scuba!

No prior experience required. Must be medically fit and over the age of 10

Spend 45 minutes with your instructor receiving a basic orientation to diving and an introduction to your equipment before learning some scuba skills in calm, clear shallow water.  Then experience your first open water dive on one of our beautiful reefs, no deeper than 40ft /12m.  This experience can be credited towards a PADI Scuba Diver or PADI Open Water Diver Course.

PADI SCUBA DIVER A 2 day course for those with limited time!

No prior experience required. Must be medically fit and over the age of 10

This course takes you halfway to PADI Open Water Diver level and certifies you to dive to a maximum depth of 40ft/12m under the supervision of a PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor or Instructor.

You’ll complete the first three academic sessions, learn important scuba skills from the first three confined water dives and make the first two open water dives from the PADI Open Water Diver course.

You can upgrade to PADI Open Water Diver level wherever and whenever you wish by completing the remainder of the Open Water Course.

PADI OPEN WATER DIVERA 3-5 day course that provides you with a passport to the underwater world!

No prior experience required. Must be medically fit and over the age of ten

This entry-level course certifies you to dive independently to a maximum depth of 60ft/18m and to rent scuba equipment and obtain air fills anywhere in the world!  Your instructor will take you through the basics of safe scuba diving starting in calm, clear shallow water then progress to the open water, gaining valuable background knowledge along the way.

You’ll complete five academic sessions, learn important scuba skills during five confined water sessions and make four open water dives at some of our favorite, calm and sheltered dive sites throughout the BVI.

PADI REFERRAL PROGRAM - complete your Open Water ‘check out’ dives in the warm Caribbean waters!

Don’t fancy completing your Open Water Diver Course in a cold, murky quarry?  No problem – if you complete the Knowledge Development and Confined Water sections of the course with a dive center back home, you can make your Open Water ‘check out’ dives with us here in the calm, clear, warm Caribbean Sea!

Be sure to bring your complete referral paperwork with you.

UNIVERSAL REFERRAL PROGRAM you do not have to be trained in just the PADI system to complete your certification with UBS Dive Center. We are part of the Universal Referral Program that allows you to complete your Open Water training whether you are SSI, NAUI, PDIC, IDEA, NASDAS or YMCA.  You'll need to bring your Universal Referral paperwork with you.

PADI ADVENTURE DIVERStep it up a level on this 2 day course!

Must be an Open Water Diver, be medically fit and over the age of 10*

The ideal way to gain additional skills and experiences beyond Open Water level, this course is all about diving without tests or exams (just a little light reading)! You’ll complete three of the following specialty dives to gain your certification:

AWARE Fish ID, AWARE Coral Reef Conservation, Boat, Deep, Multilevel & Computer, Night, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Search & Recovery, Underwater Naturalist, Underwater Navigation, Underwater photography or Wreck. * Divers under the age of 12 may not choose certain dives.

ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER – 3 days of Adventure!  

Must be an Open Water Diver, be medically fit and over the age of 10*

For those who love open water diving, spend three days continuing the experience without tests or exams. Hone your dive skills and experience adventure all the way by completing five Adventure dives.  You’ll make two core dives - Deep and Underwater Navigation - then choose a further 3three of the following dives to gain your certification:

AWARE Fish ID, AWARE Coral Reef Conservation, Boat, Deep, Multilevel & Computer, Night, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Search & Recovery, Underwater Naturalist, Underwater Navigation, Underwater photography or Wreck. * Divers under the age of 12 may not choose certain dives.

If you are already a PADI Adventure Diver, you'll only need to complete two more Adventure dives to gain your Advanced Open Water Diver rating.

SPECIALTIES – 1-2 days (depending on your chosen specialty)

These programs familiarize you with specific skills, knowledge, planning, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards for various special interest areas of diving. it is also a great way to refresh if you have been out of the water for a while.
 

Peak Performance Buoyancy2 dives, 1 day

You must be an Open Water Diver, be medically fit and minimum age 10

Learn how to improve your buoyancy, resulting in decreased air consumption and better control underwater. Recommended if you plan to take an Underwater Photographer Specialty 

Underwater Photographer – 2 dives, 1 day

You must be an Open Water Diver, be medically fit and minimum age 10

Learn how to focus and compose an underwater photograph as well as setting up and maintaining your photographic equipment. This is a great way to learn how to record your underwater experiences. It's not as easy as it sounds - fish don't stand still and say CHEESE!!!

UW Naturalist Underwater Naturalist 2 dives, 1 day

You must be an Open Water Diver, be medically fit and minimum age 10

This is a specialist course for anyone who loves fish, coral and sponges and and wants to learn more about them. Explore and identify marine life including vertebrates, invertebrates, and plant life. Kate teaches this course and remeber not only is she am Underwater Naturalist but also the founder and director of reef Guardians BVI. 
 

Project AWARE Reef Fish Identification2 dives, 1 day.

You must be an Open Water Diver, be medically fit and minimum age 10

Identify a variety of fish by observing their markings, shapes, and behavior.
 

Boat Diver 2 Dives, 1 day

You must be an Open Water Diver, be medically fit and minimum age 10

Learn how to dive safely from any boat, and know the basics of what's what on and around a boat.
 

Night Diver3 dives, 2 days

You must be an Open Water Diver, be medically fit and minimum age 12

Discover why divers rave about diving at night.  Learn about nocturnal marine creatures and night navigation. Experience the nocturnal realm of the sea. It is the only time to see the true magnificence of the underwater color spectrum. We bring artificial light so we see the true colors.
 

Search and Recovery Diver4 dives, 2 days

You must be an Advanced Open Water Diver with Underwater Navigation specialty, be medically fit and minimum age 12

Learn various search patterns and effective search techniques for differing conditions, and how to raise heavy objects using lifting devices.


 Multi-level Diver 2 dives, 1 day

You must be an Advanced Open Water Diver, be medically fit and minimum age 12

For all of you old time divers who used the dive tables it is now time to move into the new era and learn about dive computers, it is a must for todays divers we still refresh you on techniques to extend bottom times using the Wheel version of the Recreational Dive Planner, but it now time to get a dive computer!
 

Wreck Diver 4 dives, 2 days

You must be an Advanced Open Water Diver, be medically fit and minimum age 15

This course is an introduction to recreational wreck diving and develops the skills, techniques and knowledge necessary for safe wreck diving using specialized wreck equipment. We have some amazing wreck dives in the BVI - The World Famous RMS Rhone, The Fearless, Mary L, Beata, The Pat, Inganess Bay and The Chikuzen, we also have a sunken airplane!

Deep Diver  - 4 dives, 2 days

You must be an Adventure Diver, be medically fit and minimum age 15

Learn how to plan deep dives taking into consideration the particular hazards, safety precautions and equipment required. Most divers at some time will want to do a deep dive and this course teaches you in a fun way how to stay safe.

EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE (EFR)1 day course covering Basic CPR & First Aid

A current CPR and First Aid certification is pre-requisite for Rescue Diver, Divemaster, Assistant Instructor and Instructor Development.

RESCUE DIVER3- 4 days of serious fun!

You must be and Advanced Open Water Diver and have Basic CPR & First Aid (EFR), be medically fit and minimum age 12

 Tony's personal favorite! You now start to learn about how to take care of others by improving your diving and emergency response skills. 

The course is made up of three sections - knowledge development, rescue training exercises and four rescue scenarios – and covers Self Rescue, Diver Stress, Diving First Aid, Emergency Management, Equipment Problems, Rescue/Assistance Procedures for conscious and unconscious victims at the surface and underwater.

DIVEMASTERminimum 3 weeks

You must be a Rescue Diver with 50 logged dives, be medically fit and at least 18 years old.

Gaining your Divemaster certification is the first step to becoming a dive professional. 

Once certified, you’ll be able to assist instructors in teaching educational programs, supervise training and non-training related dive activities, supervise those taking part in experience programs, teach and certify Skin Divers, conduct Scuba Reviews for certified divers and enroll in Assistant Instructor or Instructor Development courses.

The course is made up of three segments – knowledge & dive theory development, waterskills & stamina and practical training applications.   It’s challenging but HUGE fun!and you can get a great job in the dive industry at the end of it.
