UBS Dive Center Scuba News Release

January 2005

The New Dive Boat Is Finally Here

Hello, to all our Family, Friends, Sailors, Scuba and Snorkel Buddies.

The new dive boat Reef Chief finally made it home to UBS Dive Center. It has been without a doubt the most frustrating but yet gratifying experience of our lives.

Tony wrote up in our Summer Newsletter some of the specks and delivery info but an awful lot has changed due to the hurricanes in Florida this year.

We went back up to Florida in September six weeks after we had originally planned to receive delivery and actually got to do some sea trials on her. We also got to see the custom work that the manufacturer had done for us. To say we were pleasantly surprised is an understatement. The swim platform that we had ordered to allow easy access is bigger than we had hoped and the swim ladders are exceptionally sturdy so we should all have no problem getting out of the water even those of us that are feeling the effects of old age and bad knees!!!

The tank racks were fitted, and we will be able to hold 16 tanks or 6 divers. We are still following our policy of no more than 6 experienced divers or 4 resort course divers per instructor. As always, it will be an exclusivley private dive boat for your family and friends only.

There are some special additions that we found fun and useful. A fish finder which will be very cool to have and play with, cabin and spreader lights that will make night dives a whole new experience, and I will be honking my horn when I can't find your yacht to rendezvous with you in an anchorage!!

Reef Chief went into operation December the 6th 2004. As of this writing (January 13th 2005) she has performed flawlessly. She is extremely comfortable, dry, easy to maneuver and most importantly, easy to dive from! Please look at the pictures below and I have made an album on the web site gallery section with pictures of us doing sea trials in Florida and her arriving on the cargo ship. We are so proud of  her and can't wait to take you all out on a dive from her.

Happy New Year, we hope to see you all in the near future.

From,

Kate and Tony
